sustainability is a language

Portfolio & Recognitions

  • I believe sustainability is a language that we can use in arts and crafts to showcase our belief system. Collaborations and innovative creativity is essential to spread this need for our sustainable future. Between 2014 and 2018 I have worked as a stylist and designer in Europe to bring sustainability forward through styling, art and design projects. With an aim to give an innovative perspective on sustainability as a mindset in a modern society.

  • I was born on the Silk Road, Uzbekistan, far away from the heart of West, Belgium, where I am writing these words from. The Silk Road today still connects East and West in trade and mostly gas and oil. In history it has been the way to power. Since ancient times, human being meant a wise man, a Homo Sapiens, that was discerning and sensible. The only being with an ability to think using knowledge and act using wisdom. It happened to be that my talent is in applying knowledge in its complexity and making it into a system for individuals to reach their highest mental potential. Now, let me take you on a path, where I dive into my skills, achievements and studies, as a way to connect my personal role and belief system to the impact The Metamorphoses® .

I got my masters degree in Applied Economics at University of Antwerp in 2012 and went on to live and work in London within fashion industry discovering sustainability and its issues for the first time (2013). While working for Peter Pilotto I got my post graduate degree at Central Saint Martins in Fashion and Textile Trend forecasting. My Bachelor thesis (2010) was written in Berlin - where I got my education in Design Thinking at University of Science in Potsdam - the theme was “Impact of Design Thinking through technology on retaining of Alumni within a University” with a tech app as a result. My Master thesis theme was “Influence of visualisation of content using Design Thinking on quality of reception of information” (2012). After a year I returned to Belgium to then become independent entrepreneur while perfecting my skills in Leadership and Marketing at Vlerick Business School in 2014. I worked mainly in European sustainable fashion industry and worldwide interior design with Morentz Gallery. Simultaneously creating awareness though projects in form of exhibitions, speaking engagements and collaborations.

As an art director and a first sustainable stylist in Belgium I used my authority to spread a message of conscious decision making in fashion through style, development of a multifunctional capsule collection, creating a Wear The Change exposition at MIAT textile museum (3000 visitors) in Ghent to spread the message of sustainable thinking through clothes. Now sustainability in fashion is a more common term than not, but in 2014-2017 it was quite pioneering to bring up the topic. My point of view on art and style can be found in several interviews for Knack Weekend (Young Revolutionary, Belgian 30 under 30), De Standaard, Flanders Today (Flanders’ First Sustainable stylist), We are Global. My aim was to give a fresh perspective on sustainability in fashion through crafts and technology. My final project in fashion was in 2017 in Stockholm where together with award winning Dedicated Institute I was involved in Mistra Future of Fashion 2017. From 2018 on I focussed my work on sustainable living. My work for Morentz, a mid-century design gallery, where I was in charge of exhibitions within Morentz' participation in PAN Amsterdam 2018, Brafa 2019 and preparations for TEFAF New York.
